The Woodstock Film Festival announced this week that iconic actress and producer Susan Sarandon will receive the honorary Maverick Award. During the October Maverick award ceremony, attendees will have an opportunity to celebrate Sarandon's esteemed film career. Also, be sure to join Sarandon for a Q&A session on the day that the Woodstock Film Festival will be screening BOMBSHELL: THE HEDY LAMARR STORY— a 2017 film that Sarandon executive produced.

The honorary Maverick Award will be presented to Sarandon on Saturday, October 14, at the Woodstock Film Festival's Maverick Awards Ceremony at Backstage Studio Productions in Kingston, NY. The honorary Maverick Award is presented annually to leaders in the film and media industries who demonstrate a fiercely independent and unparalleled artistic vision. Previous recipients include Darren Aronofsky, Richard Linklater, Jonathan Demme, Mira Nair, Barbara Kopple, Steve Buscemi and more.

The Woodstock Film Festival announced in July that Shep Gordon will receive the Trailblazer award. The 2017 Maverick Awards will be a star-studded night, stay tuned for more announcements about honorees in the coming weeks!

Post Production Lounge: The Last Stop

The Post New York Alliance will be hosting a Post Production Lounge at this year's Woodstock Film Festivals. Panels, music, bagels, beer, coffee and charging stations for the Festival goers will be offered October 13-15 at The Center for Photography at Woodstock. The Woodstock Film Festival presented five successful special screenings over the summer.

Most recently, on August 12, film-goers enjoyed a special screening of WALKING OUT followed by a Q&A session led by Woodstock Film Festival executive director Meira Blaustein, with the film directors Alex and Andrew Smith. The audience was deeply moved by the film and asked thoughtful questions during the Q&A session. Thanks to all who attended.

WALKING OUT played at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and will be released by IFC Films on October 5, 2017. Alex Smith lives in Woodstock, where the film was edited by festival alum Michael Taylor.

We are currently seeking matching funds for a facilities grant that we hope to receive from NYSCA on January 1, 2018. Your support will help us achieve our goal. We raised $23, 310 with a goal of $40,000. The Film Center is the hub of operations for the Woodstock Film Festival as well as the Hudson Valley Film Commission. The facility's improvements would be an asset to the overall operations of the festival and the film commission. We thank you in advance for your donations.

Internships offer students the opportunity to get hands on experience with all the necessary components of running a festival from press, to operations, to production. We are currently looking for interns in all departments for the time leading up to the festival.

Darren Aronofsky's new film, MOTHER!, starring Jennifer Lawrence, will be released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on September 15, 2017. The film is also competing for the Golden Lion at the 74th Venice International Film Festival. Darren Aronofsky, who directed BLACK SWAN in 2010, returns with another psychological thriller.

Darren Aronofsky's film career spans the realms of directing, producing, and writing. He directed BLACK SWAN and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and produced JACKIE. In 2014, Natalie Portman and Jennifer Connelly presented him with the Honorary Maverick Award.
