Woodstock, NY (June 19, 2017) - As the summer temperatures rise, the Woodstock Film Festival program heats up with four consecutive weekends of special events to kick-start the season. In July 2017, The Woodstock Film Festival will host three special screenings at Upstate Films in Woodstock, New York, during the first three Saturdays in July: JOE COCKER: MAD DOG WITH SOUL (July 8, 9pm), STORY OF A GIRL by Kyra Sedgwick (July 15, 2pm), and STRANGE WEATHER, directed by Katherine Dieckmann and stars Holly Hunter (July 22, 2pm). On the last Saturday of the month The Paul Green Rock Academy Giving Back Concert Series at the Lodge will have a concert benefitting the Woodstock Film Festival at the Woodstock Lodge (July 29, 6:30pm). The Woodstock Film Festival is proud to provide the Mid-Hudson region with music, film and arts-related programs year-round. joe cocker: mad dog with soul-July 8, 9pm

On Saturday, July 8 at 9pm, the Woodstock Film Festival will present a special screening of the new Joe Cocker documentary JOE COCKER: MAD DOG WITH SOUL at Upstate Films in Woodstock. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director John Edginton, as well as Michael Lang, the co-creator of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Arts Festival, and Joe Cocker's manager.

story of a girl-july 15, 2pm

On Saturday, July 15 at 2pm, the Woodstock Film Festival will present a special screening of STORY OF A GIRL, at Upstate Films in Woodstock. The film's director, Kyra Sedgwick, and editor, Sabine Hoffman, will host an in-person Q&A session following the screening. Don't miss this special screening, happening before the film's official television premiere on Lifetime on July 23, 2017.

The film tells the story of a young girl's loss of innocence and the role of social media in adolescent lives.

STORY OF A GIRL is Kyra Sedgwick's directorial debut. She's an actress who has made appearances on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and starred in The Closer. She has also starred in films such as The Woodsman and Personal Velocity. Kyra has producer credits for The Closer, Proof and Ten Days in the Valley. Her husband, Kevin Bacon, stars in STORY OF A GIRL.

strange weather-july 22, 2pm

Join us at Upstate Films in Woodstock for a screening of STRANGE WEATHER, on Saturday, July 22 at 2pm, weeks before it makes its theatrical premiere. The film's director, Katherine Dieckmann, will attend the screening and host a Q&A after the film.

Holly Hunter stars in Katherine Dieckmann’s poignant, lyrical, Southern-set drama about loss, vengeance, overcoming, and the power of female friendship. Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, Fargo) co-stars, with Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) and a special appearance by Glenne Headly. Original score by Sharon Van Etten.

Katherine Dieckman's film credits include Motherhood, starring Uma Thurman, and Diggers, starring Paul Rudd. Dieckman also has music video director credits for R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People and Stand.

As part of its Giving Back Concert Series,  The Paul Green Rock Academy will host a concert on Saturday, July 29 benefitting the Woodstock Film Festival at the Woodstock Lodge. Doors open at 6PM for a 6:30PM show. Tickets are available at the door for $10.

The Paul Green Rock Academy is a hands-on, performance based music school dedicated to teaching students to play music in the most authentic way possible. Professional musicians provide lessons to children and adults with access to performance spaces and professional equipment. The Paul Green Rock Academy's Woodstock music school is located in Saugerties, New York.

In 2002 Paul Green founded the world famous School of Rock. Paul Green joined the Woodstock Film Festival in 2011 as the Music Coordinator.
