Woodstock, NY (August 1, 2017) - On Saturday, August 12 at 2pm, the Woodstock Film Festival will present a special screening of WALKING OUT, courtesy of IFC Films, at Upstate Films in Woodstock. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with directors Alex Smith and Andrew Smith. The film was edited in Woodstock, where Alex also resides. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

The film, starring Matt Bomer, is an adaptation of the American short story of the same title about a teenager's journey to Montana to hunt with his estranged "off the grid" father. Father and son struggle to connect, until a brutal encounter in the heart of the wilderness changes everything.

"Writers/directors Alex and Andrew Smith, who found some fans at Sundance 15 years ago with THE SLAUGHTER RULE, return with an old-fashioned man-versus-nature tale, WALKING OUT, in which the roles of father and son are reversed."-John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter

"The 96-minute drama was written and directed by two Montana brothers, Alex and Andrew Smith. It tells the story of a divorced father and his estranged 14-year-old son, who comes to visit for a winter hunting trip. A struggle to understand each other becomes a struggle for survival, following a surprise encounter deep in the mountains."-James Rainey, Variety

WALKING OUT appeared at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and earned a nomination for a Grand Jury Prize, and the Woodstock Film Festival is honored to screen the film before its official release date by IFC Films on October 5, 2017.

"I have followed the making of WALKING OUT since Alex and Andrew began shooting it during the harsh winter of Montana's wilderness and through the editing process right here in Woodstock" says Woodstock Film Festival executive director Meira Blaustein. "With exquisite cinematography and stellar acting, the result is quite amazing. I am thrilled that we can give WALKING OUT this special screening."

Alex and Andrew Smith are also Woodstock Film Festival alumni who attended in 2013 with WINTER IN THE BLOOD, earning an honorable mention at the Maverick Awards.

We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available at the door.
All advance ticket buyers should arrive 15 minutes prior to screening to guarantee seating. All available seats will be sold to standby line on a first come, first serve basis once advance ticket holders are let in.
