CHRONOVISOR is a feature-length academia-noir from New York-based filmmaking duo Kevin Walker and Jack Auen.

Set on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the film follows Beatrice, a respected but isolated scholar studying the philosophy and neuroscience of memory. Her meticulous research eventually leads her to the legendary “Chronovisor” – a mysterious device allegedly built in the 1950’s by a clandestine team of Italian physicists and monks. The Chronovisor purportedly tunes in to audiovisual signals from the past and displays a video feed of any moment in history.

Inspired by the real-life scandal surrounding Father Pellegrino Ernetti – a Vatican priest who claimed to have used the device to witness the crucifixion of Christ – Beatrice’s revelations unveil staggering implications for both her professional career and humanity at large. As her increasingly obsessive investigation uncovers the Vatican’s deliberate suppression of the Chronovisor and excommunication of Ernetti, she is forced to decide how much she is willing to sacrifice to discover the truth. 

CHRONOVISOR is at once a love-letter to the tactile process of analog research and a cautionary tale of the human consequences of pursuing knowledge and certainty at any cost.
