Internship Program
We’re seeking passionate, curious, and motivated interns to join our team!
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a respected nonprofit arts organization while connecting with filmmakers, artists, and industry professionals at every stage of their careers.
As a WFF Intern, You Will:
Receive hands-on, real-world experience in independent film and festival production
Collaborate with fellow interns and WFF staff in a supportive, creative environment
Be considered for seasonal or festival positions, when available
Interns primarily work scheduled hours at WFF’s year-round office in Woodstock with opportunities to support screenings, events, and festival programming.
Internship Opportunities Available During These Time Periods
Spring: End of January – Mid May
Summer: Late May – Early August
Fall: End of August – Early November
Note: Spring and Summer internships focus on year-round operations and programming. Fall internships include intensive, hands-on involvement with the annual Woodstock Film Festival, availability required: October 14 –18.
This program is best suited for 3rd- or 4th-year college students pursuing careers in film, media and press, marketing, arts administration, event production, or related fields.
Recent college graduates may also apply for non-credit internships or are encouraged to apply for our volunteer program.
Please Note: As a small nonprofit arts organization, this internship program is currently unpaid. We understand the challenges this presents and aim to make the experience as flexible, supportive, and meaningful as possible through the following perks and benefits:
Flexible scheduling, so long as you can commit to 12–18 hours per week
Optional one day per week remote work (role-dependent)
Eligibility for college credit, where applicable
Limited reimbursement for local travel or approved expenses, when applicable
Free or discounted access to select WFF screenings and events
Roles & Responsibilities
Intern responsibilities vary by department, season, and interest. Interns may support one or more of the following areas:
Operations & Administration – Supporting day-to-day office and festival operations and organization, including database management, scheduling, coordination, and general research
Event Production & Festival Support – Assisting with year-round screenings, special events, and festival activities through hands-on production support, including venue setup and breakdown, production coordination, and, for those interested, helping with film submissions screening
Community Outreach & Street Team – Engaging with the local community through flyering, grassroots promotion, and on-the-ground support at screenings and events, including guest check-in, ticketing, and merch sales
Development & Fundraising – Assisting with donor and sponsor research, fundraising initiatives, grants, database management, and development-related outreach
PR, Press & Editorial – Assisting with press outreach, creating media materials, blog or newsletter content, copyediting, conducting interviews, and researching or brainstorming written content for festival storytelling
Marketing & Communications – Supporting campaigns, newsletters, audience engagement, community partnerships, and general communications for WFF programs and events
Social Media & Graphic Design – Creating and managing social media content and visual assets for websites, email campaigns, print materials, signage, and festival branding, while using creativity to develop content ideas and support audience engagement
Video Production, Photography & Editing – Photographing and filming events, interviews, and other festival activities, editing photo/video content, and organizing media in platforms like Flickr to maintain WFF’s visual archives
And More! – Interns are encouraged to take initiative, explore areas of interest, and support special projects across departments
We’re looking for interns who are curious, communicative, and eager to learn by doing. Strong candidates are thoughtful, detail-oriented, and comfortable asking questions, taking initiative in ways that suit them, and contributing their own strengths.
